Location and transport links

Holiday Inn Express at Birmingham NEC is only a few minutes drive from Birmingham Airport. Alternatively, the free “Air-Rail Link” monorail system provides quick and easy access to Birmingham International Station at the NEC. The Air-Rail Link takes two minutes to get to the station and operates between 03:30 and 00:30 each day. There is also a courtesy bus in operation between 00:30 and 02:00 hours every day.

Birmingham International Station is only one mile from the hotel. Direct trains run to London, Milton Keynes, Manchester, Northampton and Coventry, whilst Birmingham City Centre is only a short hop away.

The hotel is situated just off the M42 motorway, close to the junction with the M6, and is therefore well connected by road to all parts of England. There is plenty of on-site, and parking is free for people attending training courses with Ontrac Training.

Driving Directions

Birmingham Airport (BHX): Leave the airport via the exit. At the roundabout turn left, then take the first exit at the next roundabout onto Bickenhill Parkway. Continue along the road over the next three roundabouts. The hotel is on the left at the fourth roundabout.

London Heathrow (LHR): M25 clockwise, get onto the M40 north, then the M42 north. Get off at Junction 6, go into the NEC site and follow the signs towards North Car Park. You will then see signs for the Holiday Inn Express hotel.

East Midlands Airport (EMA): Exit via Viscount Road. Turn left onto Ashby Road. At the second roundabout take the slip road onto the A42. Exit onto the A446 at J9 and take the second exit at the next island, continuing on the A446. Go over the next five roundabouts and exit via the slip road. Then take the second exit at the second island.

Places of interest

Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery is located in the heart of Birmingham, around 30 minutes by car from the hotel or 15 minutes by train from Birmingham International station. Highlights of its extensive collection of antiquities include pre-Raphaelite works and countless Ancient Greek, Roman and Egyptian artefacts, all housed in a grand 19th-century building.

The National Motorcycle Museum is recognised as the finest and largest British motorcycle museum in the world and originally opened its doors in October 1984 with a collection of 350 motorcycles on display. One of the biggest draws to the museum is its comprehensive collection of British-built machines, spanning the “60 Glorious Year” of motorcycle manufacturing in this country.
